“You don’t know what I’m thinking,” he said. The dark desire in his voice tickled the butterflies in my belly, stirring them to life.
Oh, don’t I? The same thing I am. “Not in that sense. We share the bed, sleep together, but platonically.” He just continued to stare at me. “Look, you can’t really believe you’ll get enough sleep to be able to attend meetings and be effective if you stay on the couch. If you sleep in the bed, you’ll be rested.”
“You think?”
I nodded even as my body screamed, “Liar!”
Distrust etched itself in every line of his body. “What’s in it for you?”
“My conscience leaves me alone.”
“Ah, so this is to make yourself feel better about this morning?”
“Yes. Besides, the bed is big enough for both of us to sleep in it without ever touching. You won’t even know I’m there.” But I would know he was there.
He snorted, but didn’t say another word in protest. Instead, he stood and walked into the bedroom. My feet followed him of their own accord. My gaze stayed firmly glued to his ass, covered only by his skivvies. Tight skivvies. He had a nice ass. He laid down face up. My mouth watered. Oh my!
“Uh,” I cleared my throat, “is that all you’re wearing to bed?”
“Would you rather I wear my normal attire?”
Dragging my gaze away from his erection, I forced myself to look into his eyes. Desire sizzled between us. A bead of perspiration trickled down my back. For such a temperate climate, it sure was hot in Tahiti.
“And that is?” Despite my best efforts, my voice came out like a 1-900 hotline operator.
“Nothing.”
I gulped. “No. No. This is fine.” Fine, my ass. I’d have visions of grabbing that tight butt of his as he slid in and out of me all night long. Maybe I should have stayed on the sun bed.
